The best egg-bites for even the pickiest of eaters!
Or at least try a new avenue for those of you or in your family whom don't like eggs. Including me! Fun Fact: The taste/texture of eggs has always bothered me, even as a child. Creating this recipe was simply a result of expanding my pallet. Over the past few years, I have been experimenting with recipes with eggs to incorporate more healthy protein into my diet. In spite of discovering scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, and even fried eggs are still out, I've had great success with quiche, egg bites, and various egg casseroles. I find I don't taste the egg as much and the texture doesn't bother me at all. Simply, egg-cellent! If you ask me. :) Now this isn't magic here folks, so if it still doesn't magically work for your picky eaters, at least it was worth a shot in trying a new recipe, and you learned a new way to prepare eggs if you've never tried egg bites before. If you have, well then add this recipe to the vault!
The Best Easy Oven Egg Bites
Here's the ingredients you'll need:
1 cup Bacon, cooked + chopped**
1/4 tsp Garlic powder
1/4 tsp Onion powder
1 tsp Thyme, dried
1/4 cup Heavy cream **
1/8 cup Milk **
1 cup Cheddar cheese **
1 cup Vegetables **
Salt + Pepper to taste
** Ingredients are optional and swappable. **
I used fresh chopped bacon in my recipe but you can opt to have no meat, a different kind of meat such as sausage, all veggies, no veggies, or any combination that sounds good to you. The beauty of egg bites is that they're simple - but extremely versatile. You can also add other fresh vegetables, such as bell peppers, basil, and thyme. My cheese lovers, add additional cheese of choice or swap the cheddar for your favorite smoked mozzarella or gouda.
Depending on your preferences, dairy can also be added in small or large amounts. Having tried the recipe above, I found it to have the perfect texture that resonated well with my family. If you'd rather keep the calories low or opt for dairy-free milk, go ahead! The egg bite world is your oyster my sweet friends!
